Wherever you are in your musical journey, it is always a good idea to have a friend nearby to support your musical endeavors. I, as a teacher, will always meet you where you are and work with what we have brought to the table. My teaching philosophy is largely inspired by my primary teacher, Richard Killmer, elevating fundamentals into a musical intuition within each student, while prioritizing enjoyment and musical excellence. My preferred method books are:
Barrett’s Complete Method for Oboe
Ferling’s 48 Famous Studies for Oboe or Saxophone, Op. 31
Sellner’s Studies for Oboe
Singer’s Oboe Method in Theory and Practice
Each student, however, will have a personalized practice plan developed for them, which may involve books students already own, as well as pertinent repertoire to their musical needs/desires.
