Background & Experience
Rob Nordli is a Chicago based music educator. He has shared his passion for music in the private, public, and university settings with students of all ages. As a kindergarten and middle school music teacher, Rob cherishes the opportunity to provide a musical foundation for blossoming musicians and strives to awaken a love for music in all his students. He believes that musical creativity will unlock a healthy outlet to express emotions that words struggle to convey. With a quality music education presented in a judgment free zone, Rob believes that each and every student will find an endless source of enrichment in their lives. Rob is a member of the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME).
In May 2018, Rob received a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies from Northern Illinois University. While in attendance, he was awarded a graduate teaching assistantship in addition to his service on the Graduate Council, Curriculum Committee, and the Graduate Student Advisory Committee. Rob has studied closely with artists such as Geof Bradfield, Mark Colby, Greg Ward, and Reggie Thomas throughout his education.
In addition to his career as an educator, Rob loves to share his music with the world as a professional saxophonist. He has performed in countries such as Germany, and Mexico, in addition to venues all across the United States. As both a student and professional, Rob has accompanied international acts such as Manhattan Transfer, The Temptations, and The Four Tops. In the Jazz Scene, he can be seen performing with his group Rob Nordli Jazz Quartet, and various Chicago land big bands such as Shout Section Big Band and Blues Shift Big Band. Rob can be heard on Shout Section’s latest album “Swingin’ On The Stand” (2019).
