Sean O’Donnell is a freelance trumpet player and teacher in the Chicago area. He grew up in San Diego, California and attended high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan. He graduated from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in 2012 with his Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance, studying with Joey Tartell. He has also studied with Stephen Burns, Kenneth Larson and Frank Glasson. He has been in the trumpet section of the Chicago Metropolitan Brass Ensemble since 2015 and was Principal Trumpet of the Classical Symphony Orchestra of Chicago from 2013-2016. He has also performed with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Northbrook Symphony, DuPage Symphony Orchestra, Lake Forest Civic Orchestra, Full Score Chamber Orchestra, Wheaton Municipal Band and the North Shore Concert Band. He is currently a trumpet teacher at Oswego School District 308, Adlai E. Stevenson High School, William Fremd High School and Palatine High School. He has also been a brass coach for the Ravinia Festival’s “Reach, Teach and Play,” program.
