Background & Experience

Lisa Shaw began her violin instruction at the start of the US Suzuki movement with renowned Suzuki Instructor Ellie Albers. Currently, she is an active member of the Suzuki Association of Americans for many years and is a registered instructor. Lisa studied violin at both Eastern and Northern Illinois University. She has been teaching violin in her Libertyville studio for over 15 years. She also teaches in the Zion schools where she helped develop the district’s violin program. She is also a very active orchestral player in the area, playing as principal and/or section player in many professional and community symphonies, and chamber groups in the area. She has performed in major auditoriums in house orchestras with headliners such as Anne Murray and Clay Aiken. She is also a Music Motivator for the early-childhood music program, Music-in-the-Box, teaching many young children early musical skills with a Suzuki focus in park districts throughout Lake County.

It is her hope to instill a strong love of music in all those she teaches as well as gain confidence and self-esteem from the hard work involved in studying the violin.

Lisa currently teaches both Suzuki method as well as traditional method. Please contact for current availability.
