Steven Bitte

I have been studying, composing, and performing music for 25+ years. My primary instrument is drum set, and my secondary instruments include guitar and piano. I teach up to advanced level for drum lessons, and beginning to intermediate level for guitar and piano lessons.

My teaching approach includes creating an educational experience while having fun. Studying music should always be fun, but one should approach the instrument with a disciplined attitude as well. More advice on music and drumming can be found at Online Drummer's interview with me in 2011.

My training includes a major in music at College of DuPage from 1999-2001, which included music theory, group and private piano instruction, private drum instruction, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, music history, music appreciation, choir, guitar ensemble, class voice, recording techonology, etc. Afterwards, I studied with the best at Musicians Institute's P.I.T. (Percussion Institute of Technology) program in Los Angeles, CA from 2001-2002. I have also studied privately with heavy metal drumming icon Joe Nunez, formerly of Soulfly, and drum philosopher Paul Wertico, formerly of Pat Metheny.

I am also owner of music licensing production company Blue Shade Music who works with a number of music libraries to pitch their songs in TV, film, etc. Two songs were licensed to

One notable discography includes select tracks from Hollywood rocker Lenny J’s band ELEGANTLY WASTED from 2003’s release “Greetings from a Strange Place", featuring guitarist Ryan Roxie (Alice Cooper, Slash's Snakepit). Lenny J appeared in the popular film “Get Him to the Greek” as part of Russell Brand’s band. Another notable discography includes Soundmine Recording Artist HEART-SET SELF DESTRUCT 2011’s release "Of Nightmares" My performing experience includes local, regional, national, and international tour support for bands such as Volbeat, Hellyeah, Filter, Saliva, Anew Revolution, Nonpoint, Iced Earth, Taproot, Hurt, Bobaflex, Surrender the Fall and countless one-off concert experiences with Ozzy/Sabbath tribute act Blizzard of Ozz, U2 tribute act Vertigo USA, and noted other original/tribute/cover acts in the regional radius of Chicago supporting national acts such as Red, Framing Hanley, the Veer Union, Cold, Flaw, Story of the Year, My Darkest Days, Powerman 5000, Janus, Downstait, Evans Blue, Trapt, Red Line Chemistry, Hierosonic, the Action Blast, Pop Evil, Flyleaf, Karnivool, Cavo, Local H, the Last Vegas, Seasons After, Otep, Art of Dying, Wayland, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Damageplan, the Haunted, Wednesday 13, New Medicine, Soil, Shadows Fall, Mushroomhead, Buckcherry, Enuff Z Enuff, Deicide, Cradle of Filth, Macabre, Brutal Truth, and more.

My most recent act on the drum set is Chicago based women of rock tribute band LOVE & ROCK THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE who headlines House of Blues Chicago, Surf Ballrom in Clearlake IA, Ames Center in Burnsville MN, Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg IN, Mainstage Theater in St. Charles IL, Diamond Jo Casino in Iowa, Bogart's in Cincinnati OH, Mercury Ballroom in Lousiville KY, and many other regional venues between 2017 and now. My most current acts on acoustic guitar is acoustic cover band SIMPLY UNCOVERED and acoustic duo DANI & STEVE, both which formed in late 2018 and early 2020 respectively.
