A native of Arlington, Virginia, David George is currently a member of the San Luis Obispo Symphony and a substitute with the Opera SLO Orchestra. Formerly he was a substitute with the National, Baltimore, Annapolis, and Fairfax Symphonies, as well as the National Philharmonic. He received a master's degree in double bass performance at the University of Maryland, studying with Anthony Manzo and a bachelor of music from the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Max Dimoff and Jeff Bradetich. Additionally, he earned a bachelor of arts in economics from Case Western Reserve University. He has participated in the Tanglewood, Pacific, Chautauqua, and Staunton Music festivals, and the National Orchestral Institute in College Park. In April 2009 he performed as principal bass of the inaugural YouTube Symphony Orchestra under Michael Tilson Thomas at Carnegie Hall. He is also active in arts administration and is currently the Operations Manager for Festival Mozaic in San Luis Obispo.
