Samuel received his bachelor’s degree in music performance from Northwestern University in March of 2012 studying clarinet and bass clarinet with J. Lawrie Bloom and clarinet with Steve Cohen. Upon graduation, he was invited to join the clarinet section of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago where he has been playing since the fall of 2012. Originally hailing from Chicago, he is a frequent substitute with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, the New World Symphony, and the Illinois Symphony. Additionally, he toured and played clarinet with the national touring company of Les Miserables for ten months in 2010-2011.
Samuel has been a finalist and semifinalist for positions in the Kansas City Symphony, Utah Symphony, Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, New World Symphony, and the Dayton Philharmonic.
Samuel attended the Tanglewood Music Center in the summers of 2012 and 2013 and was a member of the Spoleto USA Festival Orchestra in Charleston, South Carolina in the summer of 2013.
