Background & Experience

Hillary Brunner is a freelance oboist in the Chicago area. She currently serves as 2nd oboe with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra and teaches in Oak Park, Darien, and Geneva, IL.

Hillary holds a Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with Frank Rosenwein, principal of The Cleveland Orchestra. While in Cleveland, Hillary served as principal oboe of the St. Ann Chamber Orchestra, and oboe faculty at The Aurora School of Music.

She received her Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Western Illinois University where she studied with Michael Ericson. While at WIU, Hillary won the national title of the three-tiered MTNA Young Artist Solo Competition. Hillary has studied additionally by way of short courses or masterclasses with Elizabeth Camus, Richard Killmer, Bert Lucarelli, John Mack, and Alex Klein.
