American tenor Roy Cornelius Smith has already been heard on some of the world's great operatic stages including the Metropolitan Opera, Salzburger Festspiele, Deutsche Oper Berlin, New York City Opera, Volksoper Wien, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the New Israeli Opera. He has also appeared with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Orchestra del Teatro Carlo Felice, Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Symphony Orchestra as well as Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. Recent engagements include the title role in Andrea Chenier in Nashville, Calaf in Turandot at Teatro alla Scala, Pollione in Norma with Chautauqua Opera, Radames in Aida with Opera Birmingham, Erik in Der fliegende Holländer with New Orleans Opera, and Dick Johnson in The Girl of the Golden West with Lyric Opera of Chicago. Next month he returns to the Deutsche Oper Berlin to reprise the role of Calaf in Turandot.
