Harpist Dr. Alison Attar specializes in contemporary and historical music. A champion of new music, Attar performs regularly with numerous new music groups across the country. Attar's interest in historical harps, specifically the Italian triple harp, has led to performances throughout the United State and abroad. Dr. Alison Attar holds a B.M., M.M., and D.M. in harp performance and a B.A. in Italian culture, all from Northwestern University. She can be heard on over a dozen recordings under the Albany, Cedille, Hungaraton and Mayapple labels, among others. Dr. Attar maintains a small, private teaching studio of approximately 15 students, ranging in age from 8 to 80. She has been teaching for 25 years.
