An avid chamber musician, cellist Jeremy Ward has been a proponent of music both old and new. He has been featured on concerts for Newberry Consort, Ars Musica, Chicago Early Music Festival, Contempo, and Chicago Opera Vanguard and has collaborated with eighth blackbird,
Julia Bentley, David Douglass, Richard Graef, and members of the Pacifica Quartet. He was a winner of the Meadowmount Quartet Competition in 2007 with the Líný Quartet, performing on the Meadowmount Concert Series. As a member of Oberlin 21, Jeremy recorded with Yolanda Kondonassis on the Telarc label. He has been Principal Cellist of the Oberlin Orchestra, the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra, and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s Young Artist Orchestra. He has performed in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, the Koussevitzky Music Shed, and the Jay Pritzger Pavilion. His teachers have included Hans Jorgen Jensen, Amir Eldan, Peter Rejto, and Alan Weinstein. He is a member of the Newberry Consort Violin Band as well as a founding member of the early music ensemble Rook.
Jeremy has teaching experience at a variety of levels. He taught young students at the Oberlin Conservatory String Preparatory Program, and he has taught non-major college students at both Oberlin College and Northwestern University. He has been a faculty member at the Credo Opus 1 Chamber Music Camp, teaching both cello and chamber music to middle school and high school students. Jeremy has also substitute taught for Hans Jensen.
