Hai Tao Huang is a trumpet teacher and music theory instructor in the Department of Performing Arts. At UIC, he is assistant director of the Concert Band and coach of the brass section. He serves as a departmental liaison in arranging exchanges with the Nanjing Art Institute and other Chinese organizations.
He has performed with the Chicago Philharmonia and has participated in the Philadelphia Orchestra Institute for Brass Studies under David Bilger. He has studied with William Campbell (currently at the University of Michigan) and Gary Mortensen at Kansas State University.
He played with the Guangzhou Philharmonic and for many years in orchestras and commercially in China. He has performed as a soloist at the Manhattan Arts Center in Manhattan, KS and with the Manhattan City Band.
