Ann Dufek is band director at Wilmette Jr. High and Highcrest Middle School in Wilmette, Illinois. She holds a Bachelor of Music from The University of Miami in Bassoon Performance and a Masters of Music Education and Performance from Northwestern University.
Ms. Dufek is an active musician in the Chicago area having performed with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Rockford Symphony Orchestra, South Bend Symphony, Chicago Sinfonietta, Ars Viva Symphony, and Highland Park String Orchestra. She is a founding member of the Sapphire woodwind quintet.
Ms. Dufek served as guest lecturer and adjunct faculty member at Northwestern University from 2001-2009. Ms. Dufek maintains an active private bassoon studio, and serves as the studio bassoon teacher for several local high schools including New Trier High School and Niles North High Schools. Under her instruction, her bassoon students have consistently placed in IMEA district and state performing ensembles.
During the summers Ms. Dufek serves as band conductor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. She is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, IEA-NEA, International Double Reed Society, and the American Federation of Musicians.
