Background & Experience
With over 10 years of experience teaching students from different backgrounds and levels, Simón is in demand as a percussion and timpani teacher as well as piano teacher from beginner to intermediate students. Simón is currently in the faculty of the Percussion Scholarship Program of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the People's Music School, and has coached sectionals for the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra for over 5 years. Some of Simón's students have been accepted to some of the most prestigious colleges and summer festivals in the country such as Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, University of Michigan as well as the National Youth Orchestra, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, among others.
An active performer, Simón holds positions as Principal Timpanist of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, South Bend Symphony Orchestra and Rockford Symphony Orchestra. He is also a performing member of the Chicago Philharmonic Society and performs frequently with groups such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra among others.
