Tubist and audio engineer Nathaniel Davis attended the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance with High Distinction and Honors in Music, a Bachelor of Science in Recording Arts with High Distinction, and a Certificate in Arts Administration. Nathaniel is an active teacher of tuba and euphonium. While living in Houston, Texas during the 2016-17 academic year, he taught over thirty weekly lessons and numerous sectionals and masterclasses to students grades 6 through 12 in the Pearland, Cypress-Fairbanks, Katy, and Deer Park Independ School Districts. Under his guidance, his students earned spots in Texas All-Region and All-Area bands, as well as receiving top marks in University Interscholastic League solo competitions.
As part of his Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance, Nathaniel studied for four years with renowned pedagogue Daniel Perantoni. Nathaniel’s own teaching style and philosophy are strongly influenced by “Mr. P’s” pedagogical methods, including emphasis on tone quality and musicality as the fundamental building blocks on which technical prowess and range must be built.
