Personal note - In my teaching I strive to impart a sense of joy, confidence, and musicality in viola playing onto the student. Upon first meeting a student I tend to focus on building a solid technical foundation. Every student will work on scales, etudes, and basic mechanical exercises regardless of level. When I feel the student is ready, I teach the student to interpret a piece of music through an understanding of phrasing, character, and color. My goal is to share a genuine passion for music-making and encourage the maximum expressive potential of every student.
As the studio grows, students will be invited to perform every month in free, informal “studio class” gatherings at my home. Family members are encouraged to attend – light refreshments served! (Please note: studio classes begin in October)
