Michel Dew is the definition of an entrepreneurial artist. Honing her craft as a freelance flautist, she performed professionally in the greater Boston area. “Michel Dew... played at a high level of technical mastery, expressively shaping the dance-like musical lines, aided by light and nimble articulations.”- Boston Musical Intelligencer. Michel is an active chamber musician performing in various ensembles. Her woodwind quintet won the Boston Conservatory Chamber Honors Competition twice once in 2010 and again in 2011. Michel was a founding member of the Kelkarna Trio, an innovative Saxophone, Flute, and Piano ensemble. As a soloist, Michel is competitive and has participated in competitions across the U.S. Most notably, she was selected as a finalist of the James Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition. She shares her vitality, knowledge, and passion for music with her students and holds a private studio in Evanston, Illinois. A native of Ann Arbor Michigan, Michel matriculated to the Boston Conservatory where she graduated Cum Laude receiving a bachelors of music in flute performance.
