Background & Experience

I hold a PhD in music composition and have served as the music theory and composition instructor at Midwest Young Artists since 2015. I teach composition, music theory, horn, trumpet, and piano for all ages and levels. In addition, I can tutor for the Music Theory AP exams. Experienced in teaching students age 9- college aged students (and even some graduate students). Willing to teach younger students and/or adults as well.

- Course designed and taught to upper level music undergraduates interested in composition. Topics discussed range from contemporary music, to counterpoint, to instrumentation, and orchestration

- Taught and designed undergraduate general education course on American Experimental composer John Cage. This course uses John Cage as a window to expose students with no experience in music to contemporary music and art
