Background & Experience

I hold a PhD in music composition and have served as the music theory and composition instructor at Midwest Young Artists since 2015. I teach composition, music theory, horn, trumpet, and piano for all ages and levels. In addition, I can tutor for the Music Theory AP exams. Experienced in teaching students age 9- college aged students (and even some graduate students). Willing to teach younger students and/or adults as well.

- Course designed and taught to upper level music undergraduates interested in composition. Topics discussed range from contemporary music, to counterpoint, to instrumentation, and orchestration

MUS109 Master composer John Cage (fall 2011, spring 2012, summer 2013, fall 2013, summer 2014)
- Taught and designed undergraduate general education course on American Experimental composer John Cage. This course uses John Cage as a window to expose students with no experience in music to contemporary music and art

- Taught ear training and keyboarding harmony sections for the undergraduate music curriculum. Additionally, I assisted in instructing and tutoring music theory and counterpoint
