Nick Ober is a bassoonist originally from the Washington, D.C. area. Nick spent 4 years taking gigs in D.C. and Maryland while attending the University of Maryland. An active orchestral player, Nick has served in the Avanti Orchestra of the Friday Morning Music Club, Prince George's Philharmonic, and the University of Maryland Symphony and Wind Orchestras. Nick is also an experienced chamber musician, having attended the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival and the Madeleine Island Summer Music Camp, as well as working in numerous ensembles of shapes and sizes. He was a student of Sue Heineman and Fei Xie, and graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland in May 2015.
Nick also has experience playing saxophone and jazz. He has actually played saxophone one year longer than bassoon. He has also played in several musicals in the D.C. area on multiple woodwinds and is experienced as a doubler. Bassoon is his primary instrument.
