Background & Experience

I am a jazz and classical pianist, composer, arranger, and accompanist whose goal as a teacher is to engender a love of music in students of all ages and abilities. My students are required to absorb music fundamentals into their bloodstream, but I make it FUN. I am skilled in innumerable styles and genres including classical, jazz, pop and its many many subgenres, tango, latin, modern classical and what-have you. Being a composer, I encourage my students to start composition early on, like writing jingles for products of their own twisted design (homework robot, double magic wand [?], shelter for unicorns with skin problems [??] and other not-so-weird products {these are all real products my students have come up with}).

I've maintained a studio of between 20-25 students in the Western Suburbs for two years and I'm starting a studio in Oak Park. I teach in-home (your home) lessons or lessons in my home studio (which is very close to O.P.R.F.). Most of my students were between the ages of 5-12, but I enjoy teaching students of all ages. I also provide students who are auditioning for college with the skills they'll need such as aural skills, theory and history. During my senior year of college at NIU I was one of two certified tutors for the freshman and sophomore theory and aural skills programs.
